# Overview

RECYV is a token on Robinhood Chain that can be used to pay a Recyv request, in exactly the same way as USDG, WETH or ETH.

## What it is not

It is not required. Nobody needs to hold RECYV to create a payment request, to pay one, or to use any part of Recyv.

It is not a fee. Recyv takes no cut of a payment in any token.

It does not gate anything that exists today. Every feature works without it.

## Details

The contract address is published on [recyv.xyz](https://recyv.xyz/#token) and nowhere else. Verify any address against that page before buying anywhere.

Announcements come from the official account linked on the site. Treat any other source as untrusted — lookalike tokens using a familiar name are common and cheap to deploy.

## Why a token at all

The product came first and works without it. RECYV exists as part of the wider ecosystem around Recyv, and the deliberate decision was to keep it out of the payment path — someone paying a freelancer fifty dollars should not have to think about it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.recyv.xyz/the-recyv-token/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
