# Creating a payment request

Open the app and connect a wallet. Payments go to whichever address you connect, so make sure it is the one you want to be paid into.

## The three fields

**For** — what the payment is for. This is the only thing the payer sees describing the request, so write it the way you would on an invoice line.

**Token** — which token you want. Your balance appears under each option, and tokens you already hold sort first. The token you choose is fixed to the link and the payer cannot substitute another.

**Amount** — either in the token, or in dollars using the toggle beside the field. Leaving it blank lets the payer decide, which is what you want for tips and donations.

## Amounts entered in dollars

If you enter `$50`, Recyv converts it to a token amount **once, when you create the link**, and the link carries that token amount.

This is deliberate. Converting at payment time would mean the figure moves between you sharing the link and someone opening it, so the person paying would see a different number than the one you sent them.

## Requesting a token that is not listed

Use **Other token** and paste a contract address. Recyv reads the symbol and decimals from the contract itself rather than trusting the address, so a token that misrepresents itself still prices correctly.

The payer is shown that the contract is unverified and must acknowledge it before the pay button works.
